Individual therapy involves meeting regularly to work towards a positive change in your circumstances. For some people this involves looking at difficult feelings or experiences from their past, for other people the focus may be more on their present situation and where they wish to be in the future. Therapy can, of course, involve all of these things and I work in a way that is responsive to each person’s unique needs and life circumstances.
The therapy I offer can allow people to have a time to talk and express themselves usually resulting in an increase self esteem and self awareness.
The kind of issues that may bring people into therapy that I have experience of working with include, but are not limited to, the following…
- Trauma, including childhood abuse
- Relationship difficulties
- Explorations of sexuality & gender identity
- Bereavement & loss
- Eating disorders
- Anxiety & Stress
- Self harm
- Mental health conditions including Borderline Personality Disorder
- Illness & life-limiting conditions such as cancer and HIV
- Child & adolescent issues
- Personal development
I have specialist interest and experience in working with issues around recovery from trauma and post traumatic stress symptoms.
I am also significantly experienced in working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex clients and/or their partners and families. I have an affirmative stance on working with clients from gender and sexual diverse groups and I am a BDSM/kink aware therapist.
If you are not sure if this is the right therapy for you, we may agree a number of assessment sessions to decide if we wish to continue. I am available for open-ended or time limited work. Please contact me via email to discuss your needs further.
Appointments are usually 1 hour long, for which I charge £50. A limited amount of £45 places are also available for those who would find £50 inaccessible.
I usually meet with people weekly, at the same time, but this can be negotiated dependant on individual circumstances.
